Jiraparn Kittiasikultorn, the Design Director and Owner of Able Interior Workshop Co., Ltd., designs EarthDeco's Sunburst and Touchable lines.  She is one of the most recognized contemporary furniture designers today, receiving many international awards.

Going by the nickname, Gluay (“Banana” in Thai), her products utilize recycled scrap teak wood and veneer from southeast Asia, as well as sustainably harvested tulip wood from Germany.   She creates beautiful glowing forms, including her famous  Art Deco-inspired Sunburst teak designs (click on Tables to view) and delicate and intricate lighting created with thin strips of wood veneer lined with 100% cotton to create a soft warm cozy light.  Her signal Thai-inspired black-and-white veneer print sinuous semi-abstract floral designs create a striking yet harmonious complement to her natural wood forms.  She is also known for ingeniously mixing materials such as stainless steel, leather, woods and veneers to create organic yet artistic forms that are not only exquisitely beautiful, but also functional and comfortable. One of the most hardworking designers today, Gluay is also one of the most down-to-earth and fun-loving.  Her warmth and humor come through loud in clear in her designs and creations.

Robert Craymer – furniture designer, manufacturer, living space designer and retailer has been featured in numerous magazines and TV shows such as HGTV, The New York Times and Town & Country, for his super sleek, elegant, functional designs. He is the owner of rcgreen in Los Angeles, and has been in the business of making, designing and selling furniture for more than 15 years. Following a period of extensive research he soon realized that his past practices had ignored a sense of responsibility for the environment.  He transformed his existing workspaces, by having all of his practices adhere to the all-green method, eliminating off-gassing, poisons, toxins and replacing these with all natural and environmentally conscious materials. Craymer is being referred to as America’s first one stop furniture store that will design, manufacture and retail an organic and all natural “Eco” line of furniture and he is eager and willing to contribute and participate in the global fight to clean up the world and turn it “green” in the best way he knows how: by using his wide ranging expertise and knowledge in the area of manufacturing and living space design. Craymer’s vision does not stop here. This year, inspired by Bill McDonough, a pioneer in the all-green building community, Craymer is founding the first “Cradle to Cradle” © program for recycling old furniture to create refurbished all-green furniture, taking existing pieces back to their bare elements and redesigning them in the all-green method. Craymer is committed to bringing to the public an all green, all natural, sustainable and organic way of living.

Udom Udomsrianan designs our Planet line (Abalone, Ripple, and Satelite loveseats, Amazon, Peach, and Xylophone chairs).  Udom is a painter and sculptor whose approach is to create functional objects that are as much sculpture as furniture.  The result is his playful, highly tactile collection based on plant, animal and mineral forms.  Udom's animated shapes are a contemporary echo of the design trend toward biomorphism that first emerged in Europe and the United States in the 1960s. Unlike those designers who chose synthetic materials, Udom uses natural materials such as rattan, jute, and liana vine.  He enjoys making people smile with his designs and takes his inspiration from pop culture as much as modern art.  Famous for creating small "caves" of woven rattan and liana, he says, "Why should furniture just be something to sit on?  Why not go inside it?  When you were a child, you would take a box and make a room for yourself."  He excelled in sculpture from an early age and studied painting at Silpakorn University, Thailand's most prestgious school for the arts.  He has won numerous design awards, including 2nd prize at the Paris Elle Decoration's international design competition.  His Abalone loveseat (click on Sofas to view) is featured on the cover of the book, Bangkok Design.

ENV-BINA-THOMAS.jpg

Thomas Bina designs our Environment line, including such items as EarthDeco's Santos Bed and Desk and Beam Bed and Desk.  Bina says, "This is an infusion of old and new with an organic edge.  The wood itself gives an amazing amount of creative ideas." I was tired of seeing antique, colonial and self-consciusly 'recycled' styles," he explains. "I wanted to evolve the philosophy of recycled materials.  If we've proven anything, it's that eco-friendly furniture can also be exciting and vital."  From basic plank inlays to patchwork and mosaic effects, Bina uses the wood's natural character to create a collection that's minimal, rustic, and of course, environmentally responsible.  "The environmental issue is getting stronger, so it reinforces what we do."
